Today's reading from the tenth chapter of the Tao Te Ching asks lots of questions.
Actually, that is often more valuable than giving answers.
It is a real art to learn to ask the right questions of the right people at the right time in the right way.
Of whom, and when, and in what way might you pose some of these questions to others?
If you pose them to yourself, you'll have a lot to ponder!
It's a pretty good way to use some time.
Can you keep the soul in your body?
Can your body function in harmony with your soul?
Can you learn to be whole?
Can you draw your energy back into yourself?
Can you become supple?
Can you learn to be like a baby?
Can you keep deep water still and clear, so that it reflects without distortion?
Can you love people as they are?
Can you manage things without trying to control them?
Can you organize things without strain?
Can you open and close the gates of heaven with ease?
Can you enter and leave heaven, as a bird enters and leaves its nest?
Can you pierce the mystery of the universe?
Can you know without knowing?
Can you bear a child, give birth to it and nourish it, without possessing it?
Can you act without taking credit for your actions?
Can you lead and not control?
Leadership without control is a mysterious form of power.
My prayer/intention:
May I learn indeed to keep my soul and body together in harmony.
May I be content not knowing the mystery of the universe, yet knowing all is well.
May I be humble, and always give credit to others for any good I do.
May I make a nest of heavenly consciousness, peaceful and happy, for myself,
and may I be able to slip into it as easily as a bird.
May I relinquish any need to control others or my circumstances, and trust the Process.
May I be able to reflect others without distortion, and accept them as they are.
